Livingstreaming!!

So I did my first livestream today, after some friends back at my school wanted to see Mari in action.

I'll be definitely doing more in the future! =D

The channel is http://www.livestream.com/brittanydrewapicture

I recorded the demo if you want to see it! Note due to being my first livestream it took a moment to get the audio working and started, so skip ahead to 5:30. ;o)

Ted the Rabbit!

Through working from other artists concepts I thought working from one of Tony DiTerlizzi's would be fun then I saw Ted and thought he was such a unique character and especially different from ones I've made prior. He's been really fun to make. I'm glad I took on the endeavor and got the result! I'm excited to make more for my updated portfolio!

Tony DiTerlizzi's Ted

Modeled in Maya - Sculpted in Zbrush - Textured in Mari - Maya Mental Ray rendering

Thanks for visiting and enjoy! Happy Creating and have a happy new year!

Mari's patch system makes it easy to texture multiple items on a model at once, just by offsetting the UV coordinate. Back in Maya I had 6 different shaders:
Body/Head - Jacket - Hat - Bow - Belly Button - Buttons

 And posed!
Well almost, a friend pointed out he needed more weight where he was sitting, so there's the smidgeon of a difference from this to the finals above.

Revamping portfolio

Hiya everyone!

Just a quick update with a piece I've been working on. Its one of the many I've been modeling to update my reel to land a modeling position, based on the advice I received from Zack Petroc. I need to finish the unwrap, sculpt more and texture it, but I'm very happy with how its coming along.

Demo Reel progress

Hello everyone! Might you spare a moment to check out my demo reel? It's really close to completion just a few tweaks, the robot at the end to render out, and the final credits to add to.

Demo Reel Layout

Gathering my work for my demo reel I finally nailed my art direction based on my current personal branding.

This one I tweaked from my first pass, the dots seemed a bit to strong in the above.

On the left is the models, showing turn arounds and animations, with subtle passes of wire frames.

On the right is the different textures, that'll cycle through.
The little dots on the side bar and top swirl border are subtly moving as each model is on the screen.

Quarter end pieces

Well the spring quarter is finished and the three week break has begun! I plan on finishing up the illustrations for Mr. Condran, there are only four and I'm excited to have a chance to illustrate something again, this whole quarter was exploring more of the 3D realm. The other piece will be finishing up the clean up work on Number Crunchers, mostly just rendering but the overall look is something the Fred Rogers Company is really pleased with now.

Other important plan is to finish up my demo reel, in september I will be graduating! Yikes and yay!

The Scavengers: Post Apocolyptic robot poster

The final movie poster for the post apocolyptic robot, the four of us, Lou Rupinsky, Anthony Williams and Stephen Allen and I brought the concept to life. We agreed on the scrap scavenging piece robots.

With everyones model render I comped them together to create the movie poster. It was great to see them all together!

The beauty of masks- taping an area before you paint

In working on painting my robot there is a really handy feature of Mari that allows you to have a whole fill of a color texture (flat color; rust; etc) then enable it to only be seen through a mask layer that you can paint and reveal areas you want over time, it's great control and neat to see the idea chisled away.

The realism and concept slowly comes through, this is my first attempt at making something worn torn and rusted. It's quite fun!
