Dragon Sculpture

I've been working on this dragon as a gift for a wonderful artist friend. I'm rigging it at the moment to get the pose but here's it in the base pose.

Rhythm & Hues has been wonderful!! I've been fully hired and am now working on the upcoming title Seventh Son starring Jeff Bridges and Juliane Moore. It's based off a book called the Last Apprentice by Joseph Delany. I'm learning a lot and having tons of fun.

Rhythm and Hues!!!!

Yaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!

So after a wonderful internship at the Foundry that ends this Friday, I now start a texturing apprenticeship at Rhythm and Hues Studios!!!!

I'm really ecstatic to be able to work within such great company and at such a great studio. I'm excited to start monday, it's going to be great. I'm thankful it all worked out too!

One thing I've always wanted to do was have a hand in the art made for a movie based on a book. I'd imagine the scenes in my mind and try to create them since I was young. Now I just might get to have that chance on an actual movie soon! They did some effects for the Hunger games, so hopefully maybe I'll get a chance to work on the second if they do effects for it too! Or any really that I've read. I've been reading quite a number of books from my commute that's an hour there and home. ;o)

I'll have some recent sketches posted soon! For now here's Rhythm and Hues page!

As always, thanks for reading! I hope news on everyone's ends is just as awesome! Keep dreaming! <3

Internship + Updates + Texturing Reel!

Things are going wonderfully at my internship. I had a crash course in Nuke and the Nuke to Mari bridge, spiffy stuff! I'm loving learning all the new things! I was just thinking the other day that I'm so thankful for Siggraph, because it was through people I met through there and a domino effect from there that everything great that is happening now is!

I also am doing a test for a possible texturing apprenticeship in May so I'm excited!

I recently put together a reel for my texturing.

I also went to Wondercon with some friends, and it was great to see all the artists and definitely to see the ones I know, but also to learn of some new ones! Couldn't leave without getting some stuff too! ;o)

I'll be definitely doing more in the future! =D

Busyness = Excitment!

Things are picking up for me out here, meeting tons of wonderful people, networking at all sorts of events that are offered.

I haven't been able to go to the drawing club the past two weeks, but I have started working with a film online called the Mila project! It's internationally worked on by volunteer basis. I'm actually texturing for it! I'm excited.

Drawing Club- Belly Dancer

Belly dancing at the drawing club! I always have fun drawing dancing poses. These were great, and they'll help with movements and posing especially for the gypsy characters in my in development comic.

I wont be able to make it the next two weeks, but I'll be going to two events just as great, the Women in Animation meeting, and a discussion of CG Lighting hosted by Siggraph! Thursday seems to be a day to schedule events haha, but I'm planning a day drawing at the zoo this week. =)

The House of Terror - Final Illustration

So here finally is the final of one of Jeffrey Condran's short story illustrations!

What was interesting was the evolution of this piece, it started with the rough on the left, which just was not working so I kept changing it arranging elements until it "felt right" and did the final painting to what it is now. I can definitely say my recent practicing has been helping a lot!

Drawing Club - Steam Punk Girl

Drawing club this past week was a fun female Steam Punk theme, great poses, costumes and props! This upcoming week is Steam Punk again but with a male model, can't wait loving the club!

I felt like being crafty and made a bracelet today from some charms, beads and gemstones. Was good fun making something tactile. =)

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had wonderful holidays and that this year will be awesome!
Here are some links, sketches and illustrations!

I'm hoping the new year means some great news on my end especially in the area of work! ;o) A new reel is in progress with a bunch of new models, including Ted and the Warthog stead. I'll be making particular ones for modeling and texturing.

So it turns out there are a ton of great drawing events to go to in LA. A lot more than I realized!

The drawing club every thursday, 7-10. Looks like great fun!
