Drawing Club- Gangster and Wondercon!

Fun fun weekend, finally was able to head to the drawing club after a few weeks of other events and freelance. It was great as usual!

I also went to Wondercon with some friends, and it was great to see all the artists and definitely to see the ones I know, but also to learn of some new ones! Couldn't leave without getting some stuff too! ;o)

Drawing Club- Belly Dancer

Belly dancing at the drawing club! I always have fun drawing dancing poses. These were great, and they'll help with movements and posing especially for the gypsy characters in my in development comic.

I wont be able to make it the next two weeks, but I'll be going to two events just as great, the Women in Animation meeting, and a discussion of CG Lighting hosted by Siggraph! Thursday seems to be a day to schedule events haha, but I'm planning a day drawing at the zoo this week. =)

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had wonderful holidays and that this year will be awesome!
Here are some links, sketches and illustrations!

I'm hoping the new year means some great news on my end especially in the area of work! ;o) A new reel is in progress with a bunch of new models, including Ted and the Warthog stead. I'll be making particular ones for modeling and texturing.

So it turns out there are a ton of great drawing events to go to in LA. A lot more than I realized!

The drawing club every thursday, 7-10. Looks like great fun!

He also made a great character generator, gives a few descriptive to base an idea on then draw away!

Some creature ref, adorable sloths!!
Too cute! Sloths

Some new sketches: ( I thought I figured out a way to capture sketches without taking them out of my book through taking photos, but alas it gives grey values on some of them so back to scanning it is!)

Sketch Dump!

Various drawings from the past two months, all picked and arranged to what you see here!
I love having them all scanned, just makes my sketchbook full of floating papers though...

All sorts of animals, some cute some creepy, I used to be dead afraid of spiders but now they're interesting to draw.

CTN had some great models who where doing 1-5 minute gestures everyday, so I made sure to do it each time!

Some fantastical creations.

"Getting the idea" of Jeno-lu

Some people from different flickr photos, practicing faces.

Enjoy!

I hope anyone who was celebrating Thanksgiving had a good time, and to anyone else I hope so too!

Happy Creating!

Concepts and Illustrations

Trying a bit of a different technique with these concepts to get a rough idea of different costumes. I kind of like it, keeps the mind freeflowing and loose, and they seem to have a bit of a cartoony kids item sort of flair to them.

Condran's Illustrations

Currently working on the last few of the illustrations for Jeffrey Condran. I'll start with a small thumbnail, then enlarge it to a 11x17 bristol board, after that scan it in then paint!

Beep - Beep - Scribble

Guten tag!
After battling a fever I'm now rested and able to post! Nasty little bugger it was to wake up to last weekend though.

I've been happily productive sketching some critters and technological bits trying my hand at futuristic/steampunk.  After realizing last year I did not sketch as much as I  want I've been just letting ideas flow out onto paper. I am loving the feeling and the freedom of ideas. Enjoy!

In other news my website is entirely redone and uploaded! The Art of Brittany Drew
I applied for an internship at Insomniac Games recently so I'm really, really hoping that works out! I'd be so ecstatic!

Twelve a production through the Visual Effects department of AiP is coming to a close but they need support so check them out at Twelve.
I had the fun experience of creating the storyboards and the bridge model for the final scenes.

The illustrations for Mr. Condran are quickly coming together now that I'm able to put the time into them with the other projects completed. My big debate though is whether or not I should paint them in watercolor or digital. I guess we shall see! Either way I'm excited to render them.

During working on my website I was looking for some reference and found a pretty nice blog on design. Creative Opera

Sketches of the day

I'm really happy with how these sketches came out, so I thought I'd post them.

I enjoy the whimsical fantastical world in respects to my personal style, but I have fun trying to expand my abilities as well, like the cartoony elephant and Corgie mix, which was inspired by a friend. Overall I would say I enjoy drawing illustrative fantasy, cartoony/Disney, and realism.

If you believe in faeries, you'd probably enjoy this, an event celebrating art, music and inspiration. Inspired by Brian Froud and Wendy Froud's artwork. Brian Froud and other artists attend annually.
Faerieworlds
Faerie radio - music that is highly inspirational, featuring a wide range of cultures and styles.
